In the last couple of months I have not seen our family much. Moo Ro has also gotten a job at Farmland, too. She is working full-time and Mu Saw goes to daycare all day. So, between work, sleep and spending time with their friends, I don't see them. We did deliver the 600 books to the Karen community a couple of weeks ago. They were most appreciative. We had way more books than children but I think that was ok. Pa Naw Dee has gotten an additional translator job with LPS. He is working with a friend of mine and I hear it is going well. Ah Yong's family has still not arrived. I offered to check the status of the resettlement but he declined. (I think there was a language barrier there.) I also have not heard about Pa Naw Dee's wife and child(ren)'s status. We have all the paperwork completed and submitted. Hopefully our church will gear up to sponsor another family in 2009. I've learned a lot about the process and am excited to help another family resettle. I will keep in touch with Gay Htoo's family and hopefully have them over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would be honored to spend their first holidays in the America with them. Thanks for everyone's help!

After calling Gay Htoo's doctor's office and finding out the earliest they can see him is in 2 weeks, I decided we needed to go to the emergency room. I gave him the choice of waiting or getting some relief sooner. He chose the ER. Pa Naw Dee was on his way home from translating at Farmland all day and said he would go with us. God bless him. I could have done it without him but it would have been difficult. To make a long story short, the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with Gay Htoo and sent him home on Motrin. I felt like I had failed him. He has had this recurrent pain in his abdomen. He has had 3 episodes of this pain, this week being the third. The doctor thought it was muscular, however, the first two episodes was before he was doing hard labor at Farmland. Gay Htoo has pain in his back, too, which is new. The abdomen pain is not new. I wish I had an answer for him.

I'm posting this here hoping someone in the medical field can help me. I went to the apartments last night to help transport VBS children to the church. (More on that later.) Gay Htoo was there leaning down. I asked if he was going to church. Stari stepped in and said he did not feel well. His back hurt him and his stomach. I told him I could take him to get medical help. He said he couldn't miss work. I thought about it for a moment and remembered that Clinic With a Heart is open on Tuesday nights. Perfect! He wanted to shower before we went but we had no time, especially since I had never been there before and I didn't know how it worked. We drove way out past 27th and Superior to find out it was not open this Tuesday...for no apparent reason. I asked if he had insurance through Farmland yet and he didn't know. We went back to his apartment and rummaged through every piece of paper he and Ah Yong ever received. We found the benefit booklet but no insurance cards. I tried calling many resources but I had no luck. Finally, I heard from Vanja who told me they had Medicaid for 8 months. You cannot go to an urgent care with Medicaid, only the ER. I found his Medicaid information and took it with me to call for an appointment. I bought him some Tylenol and a heating pad to use in the meantime. When I called his Medicaid doctor the earliest they can see him is 2 weeks. That's crazy! I told the office the situation; it didn't matter. I've tried to find out any additional options for him but there really aren't any. So, tonight as the children enjoy VBS, I will probably be taking Gay Htoo to the ER; I don't know what else to do. Suggestions welcome.
